Threshold Monthly Newsletter

August 2025

Message from the Editorial Team

Welcome to the seventeenth newsletter from Threshold!
In August, we wrote a whopping 68 news pieces and 10 articles.

We have reached the beginning of a new month, which means it's time to reflect on August in the latest instalment of the Threshold Monthly Newsletter. Last month brought significant updates in the flight simulation community, including the releases of Pyreegue Dev Co.’s Birmingham Airport, iniBuilds’ Larnaca International Airport, Microsoft’s Sim Update 16 for MSFS 2020, Microsoft’s Sim Update 3 for MSFS 2024, and SimNord’s Copenhagen Airport. Additionally, iniBuilds announced an upcoming rendition of Manchester Airport and the Airbus A340 for MSFS 2024. With everything released and announced last month, we look forward to everything September has in store. As always, we will keep you updated.

We’re Going to Brazil!

Threshold | Official Media Partner of Expo Aviação Virtual

We’re a small team, and we’re not exactly experts at tracking social media mentions. So we just now discovered that the folks at Expo Aviação Virtual made a fantastic announcement about our partnership five weeks ago.

Here’s what they wrote (originally in Brazilian Portuguese):

“Great news! Threshold, one of the most renowned portals dedicated to international virtual aviation, has just joined EAV! With first-hand news from all the major players in the sector, in addition to the credibility of the information, the Threshold portal also offers users an online store with incredible products!

We are very proud to have such renowned international partners giving visibility to our community! Thank you for your trust, and welcome @Thresholdx!”

We had originally planned to wait until we had our feature article about the event ready before announcing anything, but it’s time—and only fair—to return the spotlight.

Threshold is proud to officially be a media partner of Expo Aviação Virtual, the largest virtual aviation event in South America, taking place this November in São Paulo. You can learn more about the event here: https://www.expoaviacaovirtual.com.br/en

FREE TICKETS TO THE EVENT

To celebrate the partnership, we’ve been given 10 tickets to give away, and at least 5 of them will go to our paying Patreon supporters through a raffle. No matter your (paid) tier, you’re in. Details on the raffle will come later, but if you’re based in Brazil—or want to make the trip—this is a great chance. And truthfully, our Patreon pool isn’t that massive, so your odds are pretty solid. All you have to do is sign up and send a message on Patreon that you want in on the raffle. 😄

Just last week, Artur posted an analysis titled "Fenix BFU: A Step in the Right Direction." In his piece, he reflected on the various versions of the Airbus A320 for different simulators over the past few years. He also shared his thoughts on the relatively new product in the market, the Fenix A320. Additionally, he discussed the recent developments regarding the Fenix BFU and how they have altered his perspective on the Fenix A320 and its future.

Top Freeware Of The Month

Last month, Olai visited Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, to explore the freeware Vilnius International Airport for X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 12, created by Emilis. This scenery package is filled with features, including the main terminal, a VIP terminal, updated taxiways, and much more. The Lithuanian airport serves as an excellent hub for operations in the Baltic region.

We’re excited to share that the Starship for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 and 2024 by Black Square is now available in our store. After three years of development and collaboration with actual Starship owners, Black Square have ensured that the aircraft's rendition is as accurate as possible.

The addon is packed with features, including an accurate recreation of the Collins avionics suite, a sophisticated pressurisation simulation, an advanced cabin temperature simulation, and a new tablet interface, among many others. These features have led to the addon being promoted as one of the most advanced aircraft simulations available for the simulator.
