A Sort of Travel Log from The FSExpo 2025 by Magnus

This year's FlightSimExpo was a bit different for me. Just four days before departure, I had surgery after breaking my leg. The timing wasn’t ideal, and the journey from Oslo to Boston via Copenhagen was, let’s say, not my most comfortable travel experience. Still, I knew I had to make it.

Thanks to the generous support of Flightpanels, Honeycomb, and MOZA, the trip was possible. Their contributions helped Threshold attend the event and continue doing what we believe: connecting directly with the community and the developers, shaping our space.

I arrived in Boston a couple of days before the Expo kicked off and spent the night there before being picked up by Drew and heading down to Providence. It gave me some time to adjust. Crutches and all, and reflect on why we attend these events in the first place.

For us at Threshold, these gatherings are more than product launches and booths. They’re about people. They’re about conversations that don’t fit in a press release and building relationships that last longer than any one headline. Among all the exhibitors, attendees and others, I could mention many, but I want to highlight Calum from FSElite. I’ve come to respect him sincerely for his work in this community. We’ve developed a very open and friendly relationship over time, where we can talk honestly about our successes and challenges. The image below captures a quick moment from one of my “floor rolls”, where Calum stopped me and asked, “Can we talk about us? And the fact that we’re not enemies?” I found that both sweet and genuinely heartwarming.

Big thank you to the Omni Hotel for providing the wheelchair!

Most people don’t see friendships built off the expo floor, over dinners, car rides, and quiet hallway chats. This community is small, but it's built on passion, and that makes it personal.

That sense of connection has taken another unexpected turn this year. I’ve joined Jannes and Niels as part of the FSWeekend organiser team, a development I didn’t see coming, but one that feels like a natural step forward. After years of attending, covering, and supporting the community, being invited into the core team is humbling and exciting.

Representing both Threshold and FSWeekend

Like the relationship between Calum and me, the friendship between the FSExpo team, Evan, the FSWeekend team, and the others, has grown stronger with each event. There’s mutual respect and support between the teams, and it’s a reminder of what this community can be at its best.

Again, thank our supporters, readers, and countless people we met in Providence.

Cold & Dark Startup

This month, Omid took a break from DCS and returned to Microsoft Flight Simulator for a new instalment of the video series "Cold & Dark Startup."

In the latest video, Omid explored the Just Flight F28 Professional, a highly realistic recreation of the classic regional jet.

You can find the F28 video on our YouTube channel. If you want to learn how to fly this aircraft, be sure to check it out!

Editor’s Choice Article

At the beginning of June, our very own Magnus had the opportunity to check out the MOZA MTP and MTLP Throttle Quadrant. After reviewing the MOZA Flight Stick and Base last November, Magnus is back to take another deep dive into one of MOZA’s products for the flight simulation market.

Top Freeware Of The Month

In one of the No Money Mondays this June, Olai headed to Germany to explore Münster Osnabrück Airport V2.0 for X-Plane 12, developed by AeroX Simulations. This scenery package includes a variety of features, making it an exciting scenery. With numerous destinations across Europe, this German airport could be the perfect next stop to visit in the simulator.

We’re pleased to share that the JustFlight PA-28R Arrow series for Microsoft Flight Simulator has received a new update, improving both the Arrow III and the Turbo Arrow III/IV packages.

The Arrow series brings a faithful recreation of Piper’s popular GA aircraft, complete with detailed modelling, a custom-coded suite of systems, and a user-friendly EFB interface. With this update, users will benefit from improved behaviour under MSFS 2024, addressing issues such as mixture lever functionality, HSI drift, and HUD integration.

The aircraft in this package are among our favourites of all time. They strike a rare balance between complexity and accessibility, making them ideal for casual flying and more in-depth VFR operations.

For those yet to pick it up, we offer a bundle deal covering the Arrow III and Turbo Arrow III/IV, making it the perfect opportunity to add two iconic piston singles to your hangar.
